President’s Letter

Welcome to Fall and a robust calendar of upcoming events for the remainder of our CREW CT year. We hope you will be able to join us for as many events as your schedule permits, including our signature CREW Careers Day, annual Member/Sponsor dinner, compelling programming, and, to finish off the year, our December holiday celebration.

Your board is already planning for 2018 and soon you will hear our slate of new officers and committee chairs for next year.

Early planning is also underway for our spring Blue Ribbon Awards. Nominated projects must be completed in 2017 and will require high resolution photographs depicting the best elements of the design. Please remind your business associates and clients, architects, and construction company contacts of the upcoming program; date to be announced soon.

Nonmembers receiving this newsletter will also want to take note of our special Membership offer. Apply to join as a new member by November 1 and receive 14 months of membership benefits, including our year-end programs and all of those to take place in 2018. Application guidelines are available at

Finally, Sponsorships for next season are actively coming together. Don’t hesitate to contact Jen Marks or Jenna Bennetti for details.

I look forward to seeing each of you at our upcoming programs and activities.

Connecticut Woman Selected for CREW National Scholarship

We were pleased to learn that Taylor Casey, who hails from Storrs and is an architectural student at New York Institute of Technology, has been selected as one of the 2017 CREW Network Foundation Scholarship recipients. Taylor received one of 15 national academic scholarships of $5,000. Taylor is an honor student and women’s soccer athlete who is in her fourth year of the five-year Bachelor of Architecture Degree program. In addition to the financial scholarship, Taylor will receive a paid internship in the summer of 2018, free registration to the national conference, and an 18-month CREW Network Student-at-large membership. We look forward to welcoming Taylor to a future CREW CT meeting.

CREW CT was pleased to partner with The Commercial Record for the annual Women of FIRE awards on August 23. A number of CREW CT Members were in attendance and enjoyed networking with others from our industry, representing what our organization is all about! Member Jennifer Rodriguez, Vice President/Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Administrator at Liberty Bank, was one of 14 honorees for achievements in finance, insurance, and real estate. Our president-elect, Colleen Sheridan gave an enlightening and inspiring keynote speech, peppering her talk with personal anecdotes.
