Welcome to 2019! I greatly look forward to serving as President of CREW CT in 2019. I would like to express my deep gratitude to the CREW CT nominating committee for considering me for this tremendous honor.
Since joining CREW CT, I have learned first-hand the value of this exceptional organization. It has provided me the opportunity to meet so many leaders in our industry and network with a peer group with exceptional accomplishments. Through serving on many CREW committees, I have seen how CREW enhances the professional careers of its members through workshops, educational programs and giving back to the community. Working with the talented 2019 Board over the upcoming year, I hope to continue the work of the organization to achieve our stated mission statement which is to transform the commercial real estate industry by advancing women globally. This year our goals include growing our CREW CT membership, achieving our CREW Network Foundation goal of having 50% of our membership contribute to the wonderful national scholarship fund for young women studying in the commercial real estate industry, providing our members with networking opportunities, and arranging informative and quality professional and educational programs for our members and guests.
Membership Renewals Closing Soon!
If have not yet renewed for 2019, please take a moment to renew your membership now to avoid a lapse in member benefits. This is also a great time to review and update your CREWbiz profile.
Plans in the Works
CREW CT already has very exciting CREW events in the planning stages for 2019. Our first Program event will be held on March 6th and is entitled, Brownfield Initiatives: Challenges and Solutions for Commercial Real Estate issues in Connecticut. We are very excited and honored to have secured Dr. Maria (Marisa) Chrysochoou as the moderator. She is UConn's very first female head of the School of Engineering, Civil & Environmental Department Head.
Our Blue Ribbon Committee, chaired by Melissa Roy, has already selected a date for our 24th Annual Blue Ribbon Showcase event. It will be held on April 24, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. The venue is to be announced soon and Melissa and her committee will be notifying you shortly about project submittal guidelines and deadlines.
Our Professional Development Committee, chaired by Betty Horne and Attorney Laura Cardillo, is in the process of scheduling four Professional Development events.
If you have not already done so, I strongly encourage each of you to consider joining a CREW Committee. Not only is member participation critical in making our organization as effective as it is, it is a wonderful opportunity to connect closely with other members and make long lasting friendships. Our Membership Committee, chaired by Jenna Zaikarite and Nikki Witaszek, will be reaching out to each member shortly to determine which committee is your first preference.
Also, please do join/like/follow us on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram. Our Communications Committee, led by Megan Cleary, is very effective in posting photos and notices of CREW events on each of these sites. Megan will also be highlighting special events in the lives of our members. Our first Member Highlight features one of our long-term members Beth Judd. Beth, (who, remarkably enough, has attended every CREW Convention), has been invited to speak on one of the panels at the Real Estate Women’s Forum in New York City on February 28, 2019. It is quite an honor to have been selected as a panelist for this event. This is a great networking event with excellent professional development topics. Several of CREW CT members already plan to attend. Hope to see you there.
