Edward Engberg, CPA
Ed is an Assurance Director in the growing Connecticut accounting firm of Whittlesey, where he has been employed since 2006. The former audit manager was promoted to director earlier this year. His focus has been serving real estate, affordable housing, and nonprofit clients. He was drawn to real estate because of its complexity and very much enjoys the collaborative nature of the work and how a deal comes together.
He has significant experience with organizations that receive financing through HUD, the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, and the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development. Ed says that he gravitated towards the affordable housing practice because of his personal experience living in affordable housing during his formative years. Within Whittlesey, he serves on his firm’s Strategic Leadership Group.
Ed grew up in Southeastern Connecticut, attended Norwich Free Academy, and received his B.S. in Accounting and Finance from Central Connecticut State University. He lives in Guilford with his wife and two young children.
When asked why he enjoys his CREW membership, Ed replied that he “Likes interacting with members who are knowledgeable about his real estate industry focus and also appreciates knowing many powerhouse women in the industry.” He encouraged his colleague Jenna Zaikarite to join and she is just finishing a second term on the board of directors.
