Rose Ponte has been the Economic Development Director for the Town of Farmington since 2013. She serves as the primary point of contact for Farmington businesses and business-related matters. She manages the Town’s communication platform, Explore Farmington, engaging residents and business leaders and strengthening connections among the Town’s stakeholders.
Prior to joining the Town of Farmington, she served as the Economic Development Director for the City of Torrington, where she played a key role in revitalizing Torrington’s Downtown Center by leveraging the Arts as one of the City’s key economic drivers.
Previous to her career in Economic Development, Rose served as the Director of Students at the Nutmeg Conservatory and was responsible for the management of the year- round residential pre-professional program and the summer residential program.
Rose started her professional career in International Banking working for National Westminster Bank.
Rose is a Farmington Rotarian and was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Foundation. She served as a member of the Region 10 Board of Education, on the Board of the Northwest Community Foundation, on the Board of Incorporators for the Northwest Municipal Credit Union, and on the LARC Board of Directors.
Rose graduated from Fairfield University with a degree in Finance and a minor in Latin American Politics. At Fairfield she was a member of the National Foreign Language Honorary Society and was named the Wall Street Journal Award recipient for her graduating class.
After raising her four children she now delights in spending time with her 10 grandchildren.
